Introduction
In 2003 the Parish Council of Cockerham decided to instigate the production of a Parish Plan. The aim was to bring together concerns and aspirations of the village and to produce a document which could be used to demonstrate specific needs within the Parish.
A steering group was formed, and was given the task of producing a Parish
Plan for the Parish of Cockerham. Firstly, ‘star charts‘ were
displayed at various village events over the summer of
2003 and great interest was shown by villagers. The steering group then distributed
questionnaires to every person of 11 years and over in the parish and the
information received from these and the
‘star charts‘ form the basis of the Parish Plan.
Key areas of concern were identified from the surveys these being:-
- Services
- Housing
- The Environment and Conservation
- Transport
- Tourism and Leisure
On the following pages you will find statistics and information relating to each of these concerns, together with our vision for the future.
We hope you find the Parish Plan of interest and our grateful thanks go to all who have helped in it’s production in any way.
